ConVault ASTs Survive New Catastrophes FloridaDavid Harris, President of ConVault Florida, reports that a 2000-gallon ConVault AST has been dropped from a delivery truck to the ground and remains functional for its owner/operator. The unfortunate incident involved a local delivery firm which attempted to coordinate with the contractor on-site for off-loading the ConVault assembly. ConVault Florida did not perform the work which generated the problem. While operating the off-loading crane, the lifting straps became unsecured and the assembly dropped, striking the delivery truck (flatbed portionsee photo) and consequently landing on its side on the ground. The ConVault AST was carefully moved onto its proper horizontal stance and subsequently tested for damage.
Both the primary and secondary containment areas remained intact and the owner/operator and contractor breathed a sigh of relief and continued their installation. TexasDarrell Bradley of DalWorth recently notified ConVault, Inc. that a runaway pickup truck careened down a slope at approximately 30 mph and struck a 6,000-gallon ConVault AST. The truck was totaled as a result of the impact; the ConVault AST remains in service after having been inspected for primary/ secondary containment integrity. Mr. Bradley has been unable to obtain photos and the driver of the truck and owner/operator of the tank are currently unavailable for comment.
